Parashuram kund in the “land of the rising Sun"

Parashuram kund:
Parashuram kund is a holy place situated  in the lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh ,popularly known as the “land of the rising Sun". It is filled with exquisite beauty of nature and surrounded by mountains. Legend says that Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu committed the sin of killing his mother at the behest of his father and got the axe stuck in his hand. The axe was detached when he took a dip in the Lohit river. From then on it became a place of worship for the sadhus and the people across India and popularly came to be known as Parashuram kund. The place attracts huge crowds especially during Makar Sankranti observed in January when people take a dip in the holy water believed to wash away one's sins. The kund is nearly 300 steps downhill in the lohit river. A mighty rock standing tall in the lohit river is a beautiful sight from above. You will also see numerous orange orchards in people's houses if you travel in the winters.

On the way to Parasuram kund via namsai we come across a beautiful Burmese style Buddhist temple, a Golden Pagoda also known as Kongmu Kham. Kathina festival is celebrated here.

How to get there ?
The nearest airport is Dibrugarh (Assam) and Tezu (Arunachal Pradesh) and closest railway is New tinsukia junction.Buses ply from Tinsukia, Assam via Namsai,   Arunachal Pradesh. You can also take or book a personal vehicle and travel with ease enjoying the beautiful view.

Finally some verses from a traveller's soul

Green mounds and verdant landscape
Dark skies and crepuscular Ray’s
Capricious rains and sweet petrichor
Icy winds and grey mists
Turbulent river and euphonious gurgles
Elicit happiness and dispel insipidity
Cleansing mind and soul
One of the many magnum  opuses
Of the invisible forces
Painted conspicuously
To provide solace and reason
For the parched hollow souls
To slow down and catch their breath
